Giving Hope is based on several scriptural principles, but we draw our identity from two verses in Hebrews:
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. (Hebrews 10:23-24)
We sum these verses up this way: Creatively do good together. The paraphrase reminds us that we serve a creative God who has given us a hope we can not only hold onto for ourselves but one we can give away to those around us. That’s how we can be loving – by working together to do good things and to share the hope of Christ with those around us who need to know that there is hope – a grand hope for both the world we inhabit now and the life that is to come. God’s kingdom is breaking into the here and now and we can be a part of it by creatively extending ourselves to others.
It is our desire to serve our local community – Momence. We want to be a place where people see Jesus, but also a place where they see us giving: of ourselves, our time, our resources. We are called in scripture to be loving to our neighbors. We believe we love our neighbors best by giving.
And so, our name is Giving Hope. We give. We hope. We’d love to have you be a part of what we are doing and the ways we are serving.
